Alex, a seasoned personal trainer, specializes in powerlifting, adeptly coaching clients in the Bench, Squat, and Deadlift. As a mother of four and a military veteran, she embodies discipline and commitment. With certifications in nutrition and pre/postnatal fitness, coupled with prior yoga instruction, she emphasizes holistic health, prioritizing mobility and recovery.

Alex's unique perspective as a weightlifting coach for her children's team, focusing on clean and jerk and snatch techniques, adds depth to her training approach. Her passion for fitness, coupled with her diverse expertise, ensures clients receive comprehensive guidance to achieve their strength and wellness goals.

Ambrose is a kinesiologist with 8 years of experience. He specializes in helping individuals move and feel better. His areas of expertise include strength and conditioning, sports performance, and corrective exercise. He is B.S., CSCS, FMSC, and CPT certified.

His personal health and fitness experience includes collegiate and professional soccer, long-distance backpacking, and many workouts.

Before then, cardio was king and weights took a back seat. Reason being was it was uncomfortable/intimidating for me to be on the weight floor doing things I wasn’t good at. Well, fast forward many years and countless hours of practice, I am extremely passionate about educating and empowering people to resistance train … pick up heavy things and put them back down (safely of course).

Did I mention I have a Dietetics degree from Arizona State University? Life is too short to be following strict diets, not to mention unrealistic. Prescribing a diet or meal plan is not my deal. What I do is EDUCATE and provide resources so you can find what works for you. Moderation is key especially when it comes to eating habits. Restrict yourself and see what happens, yeah, not good. Small changes over time is where it’s at. Food is fuel not therapy so eat what powers you!

When I’m not training my peeps or myself you might find me enjoying a strong cup of coffee, being “Mom” to my 4 reasons, learning (aka. struggling on the mats) jiu-jitsu at Gracie Barra Encinitas, or hanging around my beautiful town of Encinitas, CA. But seriously, you will most likely find me at the gym or on the mats doing my thing and supporting the ones I care about. Hope I get a chance to meet and learn a little about you because I’m tired of talking about me!

I’ve been in the personal training industry for 25 years and have enjoyed it very much. I specialize in functional, sport specific and strength training, flexibility, mobility, and soft tissue dysfunction, but I pride myself working with anybody who walks through the door. From the Baby Boomer trying to have a better quality of life to the Elite Athlete trying to improve in their sport and everybody in between.
 
I’ve been fortunate to work alongside excellent trainers that have allowed me to learn and expand my knowledge and skills.

My training methodology is based on strength training, calisthenics and the olympic lifts.

Most of my time today is spent outdoors in San Diego “strength training” clients as a Weightlifting Performance Coach certified by the NSPA | National Sports Performance Association.

Until my mid-20's, I didn't play any sports, I averaged 15 hours of screen time per day due to work and leisure. I was the least fit among groups of friends when hiking, snowboarding, and doing anything physically active. As a young professional, I was feeling burnt out many times from my 80-hour work weeks while running startup businesses, which eventually resulted in me hitting my rock bottom.   
Since 2017, in an attempt to get out of rock bottom and to change my lifestyle, I have tried various sports such as racing on dragon boat teams, boxing, snowboarding, sailing, rock climbing and bouldering. I realized that all of these activities I enjoyed required a certain level of physical fitness and strength, as well as my dream of traveling the world and running more startups in the future. I started to invest in myself, with the first step being investing in my physical fitness. I stepped into a gym for the first time in June 2018, and started strength training regularly since then. 

I bring over a decade of experience in education, serving 5000+ students and professionals from 25+ countries. I'm also a certified Crisis Text Line counselor bringing experience in supporting people emotionally; comment from a texter, "You were a gift from heaven". I have a Master's degree in economics and finance, which helps me see the world in the big picture and honed my ability to invest (not only financially!)
